United Clock Corp

Overview
United Clock Corporation was an American clock manufacturing corporation which operated from 1931 to 1970.

Narrative
Information about United Clock Corp. is limited and sketchy, but according to a member on the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors forums quoting Spittler and Bailey, the company was located in Brooklyn, New York operating at 379 De Kalb Ave. Abraham Levy founded the company in 1905, incorporated in 1931, running it until his death in 1961.

At one point it was mentioned as a division of United Metal Goods Mfg Co. Another NAWCC member reported that Sessions Clock Co of Forestville, Connecticut merged with or bought United, or perhaps it was vice versa. He cited clock markings of Sessions-United as documentation. Further research indicates that the most likely scenario was that United Clock bought Sessions tools and inventory in 1968 which it rebranded as Sessions-United. By 1970 United Clock Corporation was also defunct.

Some NAWCC members questioned the founding date of 1905 because no early clocks have been documented. So the only evidence we have of establishment is the 1931 incorporation. Another writer on discoverclocks.com gives 1931 as the inception date, a conclusion which corresponds with the extant evidence. The date 1905 was probably a marketing device like saying that the Saturday Evening Post was established in the 18th C.

United Clock Corp was known for its electric novelty clocks.
